China, Sichuan reported a fatal human infection with H7N9 avian influenza virus in Dujiangyan City

According to the official notice of Dujiangyan City Bureau of Health, on April 30, a suspected H7N9 avian influenza case was reported in Dujiangyan City Medical Center, the patient despite the treatment passed away.

The case was a male, 64 years old, a resident of Chongyi town. Test results from Sichuan Province CDC laboratory were positive for H7N9 avian influenza virus.

Up to now, the case’s close contacts are under medical surveillance and showed no symptoms.

Further contacts tracing activity is underway.

After the outbreak, Dujiangyan municipal government attaches great importance to the first time to start people infected with H7N9 avian influenza emergency plan. Close contact with the follow-up observation, the patient's home environment for the final disinfection. Prohibiting slaughter and trading of live poultry in urban and rural markets, crippling live birds and doing harmless treatment. Strict remediation slaughter, sewage treatment and other key links, do a good job of environmental specimens, poultry specimens and other monitoring and epidemic monitoring.
