- On 30 March 2017, the National Reference Laboratory (NRL) for Avian Influenza and Newcastle Disease confirmed as positive to Avian Influenza subtype H5N8 a backyard flock in Turin province (Piedmont region).
- There were 10 broiler chickens and a goose present in the farm, all of them showed symptoms and died shortly after.
- Regarding the case in Verona (confirmed on 29/03/2017), the culling procedures were concluded on 31 March.
- Furthermore, the Ministry of Health has ordered the pre-emptive killing of susceptible birds in two turkey farms located near the outbreak.
