China announced three new cases of human infection with H7N9 influenza

The Mainland China notified three cases of H5N1 Avian Influenza A (H7N9) infection in humans, with three patients from Henan, Beijing and Shanghai.

The first case is a 35-year-old female farmer diagnosed in Nanyang City, Henan Province, she developed a mild illness, had a history of exposure to poultry.

The second case in Beijing, a 68-year-old male patient in critical condition, he also has a history of exposure to poultry, his close contacts without symptoms, the case was identified as imported from Hebei cases.

The third is a 58-year-old male patient in Shanghai is being treated.

According to the information provided by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about 90% of the Mainland's cases have been exposed to live poultry. The percentage of virus-positive samples collected from the first case samples shows an increase in the environmental contamination of the H7N9 virus.
