Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections are common among people in hospitals and healthcare facilities, including nursing homes and dialysis centers. People with a MRSA infection often have a weakened immune system; however, #MRSA infections are also seen in healthy individuals who have not been recently hospitalized or had a medical procedure. These infections appear as minor skin infections such as pimples and boils, but can also involve more severe infections of the skin, bloodstream or lungs. Clumps of MRSA bacteria are seen in this scanning electron micrograph, magnified at 9560x. Learn more: www.cdc.gov/mrsa/.
