Duck infected with H5N8 bird flu virus discovered in Hesse

In Hesse, there has been a case of bird flu for the first time. The H5N8 virus was detected in a dead duck in northern Hesse. On the other hand, there was an all-clear suspicion in southern Hesse.

After cases in northern and southern Germany, the highly dangerous bird flu virus was first detected in Hessen. According to an investigation by the Friedrich Loeffler Institute in Greifswald, the Ministry of the Environment said.A dead duck found at the Twistestausee (Waldeck-Frankenberg) is thus infected with the H5N8 virus.
